Surgeon and naval officer. Correspondence (1860-1913) to and from Griffith regarding his experiences as a medical cadet with the U.S. Army during the Civil War, his participation in a U.S. naval expedition to Darien (modern Panama), and also regarding New Hope Seminary in the Choctaw Nation; diaries (1864-1870) regarding Griffith's travels abroad, and his emigration to Indian Territory; naval medical reports and requisition requests (1870-1871); petition (1894) from the residents of Sans Bois, Choctaw Nation, requesting that Griffith establish a medical practice there; certificates (1900-1917); a passport (1871); manuscripts (1864-1865) by Griffith concerning his Civil War experiences with Sherman's army in Georgia and North Carolina; and programs (1888-1931).

Black and white original prints and panoramas of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The collection includes scenes of Main Street, businesses, the railroad depot, and a parade for the returning World War I servicemen of Garvin County, Oklahoma.

Black-and-white and color original and copy prints of Everett F. Drumright, U.S. Ambassador to Taiwan, his wife Florence Teets Drumright, and their families and scenes from his career in the Foreign Service. This collection includes images of military and commercial airplanes, airports, the Aviation Writers Association, the Drumright wedding ceremony, and the China Foundation. Locations include New York City, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Germany, India, Hawaii, and California. Noted personalities are Dwight D. Eisenhower, Chiang Kai-Shek, Madame Kai-Shek, George Yeh, Margaret Bourke-White, and John Dulles; plus images of members of the United States armed forces and foreign service. Newspaper articles (1941-1967) and publications (1942-1954), and book (1944) regarding the United States Naval Air Station and the United States Naval Air Technical Training Center, both of which were located in Norman, Oklahoma. Included in the collection are stories regarding the establishment, operation, closing and the condition of life at the University of Oklahoma. Materials include Primary gunnery training program, We keep 'em flying, Take-off, The Norman log, and the book entitled The smooth log. Collection also includes programs, announcements, invitations, and greeting cards.

Black and white copy prints from the original nitrate negatives of early Texas history, Texas Rangers, lawmen, outlaws, gunfighters, and wild west shows. Also included are photographs of ranchers, cattlemen and cowboys of the Southwest, the U.S. Army during the Apache campaigns, the Little Big Horn battlefield and the Indian Wars of 1876 and 1890-1891, along with churches, cathedrals, and missions of Texas, California and Arizona. The collection also contains images of Comanche, Sioux, Shoshoni, Pueblo, Creek, Chippewa, Maricopa, Arapaho, Papago, Kickapoo, Yuma, Modoc, Cheyenne, Pawnee, Kiowa, Navajo, Apache, and Crow Indians. Prominent western personalities include Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill, Geronimo, Quanah Parker, Sitting Bull, Frank and Jesse James, Heck Thomas, Bill Tilghman, Chris Madsen, Pat Garrett, Billy the Kid, the Daltons and Youngers, Judge Roy Bean, George A. Custer, California Joe, the Sundance Kid, Butch Cassidy, and the Earp brothers.

Black and white original and copy prints of Patrick Jay Hurley's career as United States Assistant Secretary of War and Secretary of War, special presidential representative to the Soviet Union, Great Britain, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, and United States Ambassador to China during World War II. The collection contains scenes of Hurley with Joseph W. Stilwell, Chou En-lai, Mao Tse-tung, Chiang Kai-shek, Douglas MacArthur, Claire Lee Chennault, and Herbert Hoover. Also included are photographs of Secretary of War Hurley's inspection tours of United States military installations, suppression of the Bonus Army riots in 1932, Hurley with Japanese military representatives, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Charles A. Lindbergh, Amon Carter, Will Rogers, Chester Nimitz, Jonathan Wainwright, Henry Stimson, William Halsey, Bacone College and the towns of McAlester, Oklahoma and Phillips, Indian Territory. Patrick J. Postal covers (1927-1995) from United States ships, including cruisers and destroyer escorts. Many of these covers have been cacheted to commemorate historic figures and events, and are postmarked on board the ships.
