Historian and politician. Subject files (1876-1996) containing Helen Holmes's research notes and materials regarding the history of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Logan County, Oklahoma. Also included in the collection are research materials on the history of Abell, Cashion, Cimarron City, Coulter, Coyle, Crescent, Langston, and Mulhall, Oklahoma. Specialized subject files include research materials on historic homes in and around Guthrie and on cemeteries, schools, and churches in Guthrie and Logan County, as well as annual narrative reports of extension work (1935-1961) reporting the activities of African-American 4-H clubs in Logan County.
Holmes, Helen (1915-1997)
Black-and-white original and copy prints of early Guthrie, Oklahoma, businesses, schools, parks, municipal buildings, and police and fire departments. The collection includes scenes of students at Langston University and photographs taken before the 1889 and 1893 Oklahoma land runs. Street scenes from Coyle, Crescent, Marshall, and Mulhall, Oklahoma are also included. Unpublished finding aid available.
