Scope and Contents

Black and white original prints of images taken by Timothy H. O'Sullivan and included in the published volume entitled "Photographs Showing Landscapes, Geological and Other Features of Portions of the Western Territory of the United States, Obtained in Connection with Geographical and Geological Explorations and Surveys West of the 100th Meridian Seasons of 1871, 1872, 1873 and 1874. 1st Lieut. George M. Wheeler, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army in Charge." Includes scenes of the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, San Juan River, White House, Shoshone Falls and Canyon de Chelly. Among O'Sullivan's prints are those of Zuni, Navajo, and Apache Indians.
