A collection of First Day Covers and related memorabilia commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Will Rogers, famous American humorist, actor, and comedian. It is the third in the on-going series of “The Performing Arts and Artist Series.” Rogers began his career as a ropethrowing cowboy in steer romping contests, Wild West shows, and vaudeville. His first New York appearance was in 1905. Later he introduced humorous political commentary into his act. He died in a 1935 airplane crash that also killed the famous aviator Wiley Post. The collection includes many different cachet makers as well as official, Claremore, Oklahoma first day of issue
