Scope and Contents
Journalist. The papers and photographic slides (1962-2013) of educator, author, and Middle East expert Sandra Mackey, who began her career as an undercover reporter in Saudi Arabia. The collection is primarily comprised of her book manuscripts, published articles, research and background notes, and publicity materials. The papers feature Mackey’s correspondence with publishers, family, and friends, as well as her travel journals that record her observations on local conditions and society. The collection also contains video and audio recordings of her interviews and research notes, and color slides and photographs that document her career and travels throughout the Middle East and Asia.
