Sociologist. Personal correspondence and manuscripts of books and articles written by Dowd while a professor of sociology at the University of Oklahoma from 1907 to 1947. The manuscripts include two copies of Dowd's book"The Negro in American Life" (1926); three unpublished manuscripts entitled "Seeing the World by Tramping and Ford Car" (1939)"The New World as Viewed by the Prophets and Interpreted by Jerome Dowd" (1943), and "Social Aspects of Art" (n.d.), and two article-length manuscripts dealing with Oklahoma prison reform and juvenile delinquency.
