His letters describe his experiences with the Headquarters Battery of the 3rd Field Artillery Observation Battalion, and Battery C of the 472nd Field Artillery Observation Battalion during World War II. Topics discussed include and his training and military activities at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and other U.S. bases, and in the South Pacific, particularly the Philippines.
