Advertising of the West collection
Promotional brochures, flyers, handbills, maps, and original illustrations advertising geographic locations in the American West, as well as using the image of the West to sell other goods and services. The materials advertise tourist destinations such as rodeos, ranches, and the Grand Canyon; promotional brochures for western cities and towns such as Deming, New Mexico, and Lander, Wyoming; illustrated mining company stock certificates; and illustrations by Ken Laager for the covers of various western novels.

Diaries of John F. Lafferty, who enlisted in the Ohio militia during the Civil War. Included are hand-drawn maps of Union battlefield maneuvers and artillery magazines, and lists of daily rations. The diaries are written almost exclusively in Pitman-style shorthand, and are not transcribed.

Transcripts of interviews with pioneers who took part in the 1893 Land Run into the Cherokee Strip of Oklahoma, with accompanying township maps showing the homesteads of settlers. The collection also includes historical and cultural information about the Indian tribes, including the Tonkawa, Kansa (Kaw) and Ponca, that lived in the eastern portion of the Cherokee Strip. The final part of the collection consists of correspondence and field notebooks written by Orville Stanley Smith and Theodore H. The companies include the Oklahoma Railway, the Oklahoma City Railway, the Metropolitan Railway, the El Reno Interurban and the Norman Interurban. The collection also contains correspondence (1947) regarding the liquidation of the Oklahoma City streetcar system, and the development of the Diamond Dishwasher Company (1925). Official stenographer's reports (1945-1946) of the hearings of the U.S. Federal Power Commission's investigation of the natural gas industry, and the final reports (1947-1948) of the Commission, of which Wimberly was vice-chairman. Also included in this collection are supporting documents (1924-1943) used during the investigation, consisting of maps, charts, publications, and reports, including the annual reports (1924-1940) of the Federal Power Commission.
