U.S. Marine. Correspondence (1936–1944) from Rhoads to his brother Sherman, his sister-in-law Ruth, and his nieces Shirley and Gaytha, from military posts in the United States, Iceland, and Guam. The collection also includes correspondence between family members including Rhoads’s parents, Shirley and Lettie Rhoads, and his sister Della. The collection contains a diary (1942) kept by Rhoads while in Iceland; funeral register pages and a funeral announcement (1949) when his body was returned to the United States along with the U.S. flag covering his coffin; Rhoads’s military identification card; six medals, including the Purple Heart; and war ration books used by the Rhoads family during the war.

Transcripts of interviews with pioneers who took part in the 1893 Land Run into the Cherokee Strip of Oklahoma, with accompanying township maps showing the homesteads of settlers. The collection also includes historical and cultural information about the Indian tribes, including the Tonkawa, Kansa (Kaw) and Ponca, that lived in the eastern portion of the Cherokee Strip. The final part of the collection consists of correspondence and field notebooks written by Orville Stanley Smith and Theodore H. Diplomat. Papers (1928-2009) of Edward J. Perkins, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia, South Africa, the United Nations, and Australia, and served as the Director General of the U.S. Foreign Service. The papers include ambassadorial correspondence (1978-1996), speeches (1980-1992), and subject files (1961-1999). The collection also contains audio and visual recordings (1998-2006), and memorabilia (1979-2006). The materials highlight Ambassador Perkins’ years in the Foreign Service, particularly his work to help bring a peaceful end to apartheid in South Africa.

This collection also includes the following published and unpublished writings: "Ten Brave Years" a ten year history of The Albert Einstein College of Medicine; "One Act Plays" a bound collection of plays; "Short Stories" a bound collection of stories based on Jaffe's Oklahoma experiences; "The Iron Room" an original three-act play based on Jaffe's four month imprisonment in the Oklahoma County jail; and "Daisyfresh" an original screenplay.
