Homemaker. Correspondence (1859-1872) between Margaret Freeman and her children in Springfield, Illinois and Lancaster, Texas. Several members of the family owned land in Lancaster and Starlight, Texas, and were engaged in cattle raising and homesteading. Many of the letters describe farm life, cattle drives to Illinois, and exchanges of family news. These letters also contain information about local politics and social attitudes.
