G. K. “Mickey” Muennig Architectural Papers and Drawings
Architect. The archives (1959-2018) of G. K. “Mickey” Muennig document his innovative organic architecture work in the Big Sur area of California. The collection primarily contains project files and architectural drawings (circa 1975-2004) produced during the planning and construction of residential and commercial properties along the Pacific coast, such as the Post Ranch Inn. These materials reflect Muennig’s dedication to eco-conscious designs that incorporated the surrounding landscape and ocean views. The collection also features drawings of Muennig’s early works in his hometown of Joplin, Missouri. Photographic prints and slides of his architectural projects and sources for inspiration are included, along with correspondence from friends and associates. The collection also contains architectural drafting tools used in his professional practice, and copies of publicity about his unique architectural style.
