Black-and-white and color original prints from the life and career of anthropologist and Indian advocate Betty Rosenthal, and her parents, Episcopal missionaries the Reverend David W. Clark and Elizabeth Mann Clark. The collection contains photographs of Navajo, Sioux, and other American Indians and Episcopal Church activities at Gallup and Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico; Rosebud Reservation, Fort Thompson, Rapid City, and Crow Creek Agency, South Dakota; and Good Shepherd Mission at Fort Defiance, Arizona. Episcopal churches in Batavia and Geneseo, New York, are also pictured. Members of the Clark family, their friends, American Indian community leaders, and church associates appear in many of the photographs. Individual names include Robert L. St. Michael’s Catholic Parish in Goltry, Oklahoma. Parishioners posed in front of the parish house and church building. Parishioners in picture include: Anton and Bertha Severin and their children (Albert, Julius, Joe, Mary, Anna, Rose, A.J., Emil, Tony, and Cirilla); Anton and Barbara Plisek; Frank and Victoria Plisek; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jehlicka; Mr. and Mrs. James Milacek; Mary Severin and Ludwig Pecha. The priest in the photo is Father Deckman, who spoke Czech. Some of the other parishioners who are possibly in the photo are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pecha and family; Valentine Miacek; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Plisek and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hakel. Mike Quinn donated twenty acres to local Catholics to build the church. The parish house had running water and two cisterns. The church burned in 1928; only the chimney was left standing.
