A shack where Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sittel lived after she came to Indian Territory – she baked bread for the railroad men and the sign says “Bakery”. The Elk House, the hotel and boarding house was built from this. Mrs. Edward Sittel (Lena Trannier Sittel) was the first white woman in McAlester. Edward Sittel and J.J. McAlester shared this shake before Lena came here in September 1871. , September 1871
